How do I apply for a job at Fortescue?

Do I need to include a cover letter with my application?

Your resume will suffice. However, please include a cover letter if you wish via Supporting Documentation.

Can I email my application directly to the Recruitment team?

I am new to mining. How do I apply for a job with Fortescue?

We release entry level jobs throughout the year via our View All Jobs page.

What is the recruitment process like?

Interviews will be conducted by a member of our Recruitment team and the hiring manager or subject matter expert. Generally, the panel will consist of two to three people.

We will ask a mixture of Fortescue Values based questions, technical questions and leadership questions for roles with a reporting line. The questions we ask are designed to determine your values, culture fit, experience and technical skillset relevant to the role

Phone screen 

Depending on the position, an initial phone screen may be required. The phone screen is a short 5-15 minute discussion with a recruitment advisor, who will provide you with the details of the recruitment process and expected timeframes.

Behavioural interview

At Fortescue, to help us select the right person for our Company, we undertake behavioural interviewing. Behavioural interviewing allows us to determine how a candidate will perform their duties based on their prior behaviour in the workplace.

Interviews may be conducted over video link or in person at the Fortescue Centre, located in East Perth.

Assessment days

For some roles, you may be invited to attend an assessment day as part of the recruitment process. This will run over a day where candidates meet with a panel of hiring managers and recruitment advisors, along with other candidates for the role. You will participate in activities designed to see how you interact and work with others.

I am interested in apprenticeships and traineeships with Fortescue. How do I apply and register my interest?

All apprenticeships and traineeships will be listed on our Graduate, Vacation and Apprenticeship Programs page as they become available. There is usually an intake from October through to December, so please check our website regularly.

Do you offer vacation and graduate programs?

Yes, we offer vacation programs from the first year through to final year of study. We also offer a variety of graduate programs for university graduates. Intakes for these programs usually begin in April or May each year.
