Accelerating Global Decarbonisation

Rapidly and profitably.

Fortescue is proving that moving beyond fossil fuels is not only possible but profitable. We are leading the green industrial revolution with bold action, proven results, and pioneering technology.

We've Done This Before

In the early 2000s, few believed a new entrant could take on Western Australia’s iron ore giants. We were told it was impossible, and we were underestimated. Yet we refused to quit. Two decades later, Fortescue stands as the world’s fourth-largest iron ore producer and a global leader in metals and technology. That determination now drives our mission to decarbonise heavy industry.

What We Do

Fortescue is transforming heavy industry by building on our mining expertise, expanding into global green growth opportunities, and advancing the technologies that make Real Zero possible. Together, these three focus areas define what we do and where we are headed.

Real Zero, Not Net Zero

Heavy industry is a major polluter, including ours. We are committed to Real Zero: eliminating fossil fuels from our operations by 2030 without relying on offsets. It is about applying innovation, at scale, to prove that what many think is impossible can be done.

Fortescue Zero

Fortescue Zero is our technology powerhouse, pioneering the battery, and electrification solutions that make Real Zero possible. From high-performance battery intelligence systems like Elysia to large-scale energy storage in the Pilbara, we are developing the tools to power industry 24/7 on renewables.

The Fortescue Green Pioneer

The Fortescue Green Pioneer is docked here in New York for Climate Week. A dual-fuel, ammonia-powered vessel, it demonstrates that the technology to decarbonise shipping - responsible for almost 3% of global emissions - exists here and now.

Green Metals for a Green Future

Our green iron project in the Pilbara is the first decisive step toward producing green steel. With steel responsible for 9% of global CO₂ emissions, green metals are not optional. They are essential to industry’s future.
