Building career resiliency among female team members

To be the best company we can be, we need the very best ideas across every part of our business.

To be the best company we can be, we need the very best ideas across every part of our business.

The best ideas come from a diverse workforce: teams with a broad range of backgrounds, skills, experience and personalities and to make our business strong, we need to ensure our talented women have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Fortescue’s Career Resiliency Program forms a critical aspect of our ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusivity.

Last month, women from across Fortescue’s sites gathered in Perth to complete the final session of the program, which supports female employees identified as having leadership potential to focus on their career direction and to take responsibility for their career development.

Over four sessions, participants put together a detailed career development plan which helps them build career pathways, business relationships and effective leadership and communication skills.

Remuneration Analyst Danielle Gillman said the program was a fantastic opportunity to further develop her skills.

“It was great to hear from different female leaders from around the business and take inspiration from their career journeys,” she said.

In FY18, Fortescue is committed to placing greater emphasis on career progression for our female team members, while continuing to focus on existing programs which promote diversity.

This includes the recent opening of the Fortescue Family Room, a child care facility located at our Perth office.

By providing a practical solution to support women and parents in the workplace, we are creating a welcoming and encouraging environment which directly enhances our success by improving diversity.
