Fortescue joins 30% Club

Fortescue Metals Group Limited (ASX: FMG, Fortescue) today announced its membership of the 30% Club, recognising the diversity of the Fortescue Board of Directors with three female directors out of a total of ten.

Commenting on the announcement, Fortescue Chairman Andrew Forrest said: “At Fortescue, we have long recognised the importance of building an inclusive business culture through diversity on our Board. This is an important contributing factor to the high performance of our Board, who provide excellent governance and strategic oversight for our business.”
“With the inclusion of three outstanding female directors, we are able to take advantage of the clear benefits that a diverse Board brings, amplifying the breadth of skills and experience contributed by all of our directors,” Mr Forrest said.
“Fortescue supports the launch of the 30% Club in Australia which will allow those companies who have met the goal of increasing the representation of women at the Board level to celebrate that achievement.
“The voluntary campaign to achieve 30% of ASX 200 board seats held by women by the end of 2018 will represent a major step forward for the Australian business community. Fortescue is proud to be among those leading the way.”
