Fortescue named Digger of the Year

Last night, Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) won the Digger of the Year award at the 25th Annual Diggers and Dealers Conference in Kalgoorlie.

Last night, Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) won the Digger of the Year award at the 25th Annual Diggers and Dealers Conference in Kalgoorlie. 

Accepting the award on behalf of the company, Chief Executive Officer, Nev Power, said it was recognition of the hard work and dedication of everyone at Fortescue. 

“Without a doubt, the key to Fortescue’s success is its people. By setting stretch targets, maintaining our focus and leveraging our company’s unique culture and values, we have achieved, and will continue to achieve, great things,” Mr Power said. 

“I would like to thank everyone at Fortescue for their determination, enthusiasm and unwavering commitment to Fortescue’s vision: to be the safest, lowest cost, most profitable iron ore producer,” Mr Power said. 

Background 
Fortescue directly employs 3,856 employees, 14 per cent of whom are Aboriginal. 
Since commercial shipments first began in 2008, Fortescue has shipped 708 million tonnes of iron ore to China, Japan and South Korea.
