Fortescue wins at the 2017 Supplier Diversity Awards

Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) has been recognised for its commitment to supporting and investing in sustainable Aboriginal businesses at Supply Nation’s 2017 Supplier Diversity Awards winning the Corporate Member of the Year and the overall Outstanding Impact Award.

Fortescue Metals Group (Fortescue) has been recognised for its commitment to supporting and investing in sustainable Aboriginal businesses at Supply Nation’s 2017 Supplier Diversity Awards winning the Corporate Member of the Year and the overall Outstanding Impact Award.

Through its Billion Opportunities program, which has a particular focus on Traditional Owner involvement, Fortescue supports Aboriginal organisations to build their business capacity and capabilities, creating jobs for Aboriginal people.

Fortescue’s Billion Opportunities program has awarded A$1.85 billion in contracts and subcontracts to Aboriginal businesses and joint-ventures, since the launch of the program in 2011.

In 2016, Fortescue’s total spend with 58 Aboriginal businesses was A$240million. Today, Fortescue works with many Aboriginal businesses across our supply chain. 

Fortescue Chief Executive Officer Nev Power said, “we are committed to ensuring communities benefit from the growth and development of our company. The success of Billion Opportunities demonstrates the value of empowering Aboriginal people by providing sustainable opportunities in business and employment.”
