Kellie Gesah is a Mine Controller for Cloudbreak at the new Integrated Operations Centre in Perth.

A proud Nyiyaparli woman of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent, Kellie has been with Fortescue for five years. She first entered the business through the Vocational Training and Employment Centre program as an operator.

"I believe VTEC is beneficial because it provides the opportunity to make a better life for the participants and their family," Kellie said.

Kellie's primary role is dispatching the fleet to ensure that the mine plan is met every 24 hours in the safest, most efficient and cost effective manner possible.

She also fills in for the supervisor role as required and believes the Leadership and Excellence in Aboriginal People program has provided invaluable support during her career.

"Being in mine control, I am able to take on an informal leadership role by helping to mentor and train people. Leadership to me is about leading by example and you don't necessarily have to be a leader or supervisor to be a leader in your work area," Kellie said.
