Local community organisations involved in programs, activities and events within the council boundaries of the Town of Port Hedland, the Shire of East Pilbara and the Tom Price area are encouraged to apply for funding of up to $5,000 through the Fortescue Community Support program.

Now in its 7th year the Fortescue Community Support program has helped not-for-profit organisations and community groups fund beneficial programs, activities and events.
Fortescue Group Manager Government and Community Alexa Morcombe said the Community Support program focuses on initiatives that embrace and support education and training, Aboriginal engagement, health and wellness, community safety, community involvement, economic development and environmental responsibility.

"Fortescue values the communities in which we operate and the Community Support program is just one of the ways we invest in these communities,” Ms Morcombe said.

“In our last funding round we supported 30 local, community-focused organisations including Port Hedland’s Youth Involvement Council, St John Ambulance Port Hedland, Care for Hedland Environmental Association, East Pilbara Softball Association, Marble Bar Community Resource Centre, Tom Price Amateur Swimming Club and the Tom Price Senior High School to name just a few of the recipients.”

Applications for Fortescue Community Support are open from 1 April, 2015 until 30 April, 2015.
